The cuff bracelet trend is heating up this Fall, with an emphasis on the use of unexpected materials.
Leather, plastic, wood, fabric, and various fibers are showing up as the main body of cuff bracelets.
Repurposed rubber tires, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles are also being cut down and shaped into eco-friendly cuff bases.
Leather bracelet created from a thrift-shop belt.
Grommets could be used for attaching
your chosen accents or a focal component.
Once the cuff base is ready, jewelry designers are adding a variety of clever accents to their cuffs – such as beads, metal stampings, rivets, grommets, bone or horn components, acrylic cameos, clock parts, natural crystals, stones, etc.
Another emerging feature is the use of a corset-style bracelet closure, created by threading a ribbon, leather cord, or strip of lace through a series of grommets, rings, loops, holes, or links.
In keeping with the reduce-reuse-recycle ethic, some jewelers are attaching thrift-store jewelry items like discarded brooches onto the main body of the cuff to create a unique focal point on the piece.
That could be an interesting product to offer to your customers – repurposing their older / broken pieces of jewelry into the focal elements of trendy cuff bracelet.

Another great thing I’ve seen in cuffs are the use of utensils! I’ve seen some gorgeous spoon cuff bracelets!
Looks like that would make for a great choker, too!
@Dee – Thanks so much for sharing that interesting idea for cuffs! I’m always glad to hear about creative ways to combine re-purposing with trendy styles.
@A Mano – You’re right – I think there are a lot of possibilities for choker and cuff designs ideas to trade places with each other!

I love cuff bracelets and have quite a few in the design phase right now. Guess I better get on them!
I made two different leather cuff bracelets using different color leather and chainmail patterns attached to the surface for my nephews this past Christmas. They were a hit with all the teenagers, girls and boys alike!
