When Customers Bargain or Haggle Over Your Prices

by Rena Klingenberg on August 4, 2007

What do you do when customers want to bargain or haggle over your jewelry prices?

Here’s a tip for dealing with hagglers, sent in by a jewelry artist named Deb:

When hagglers come up to me I have come up with the perfect response when they ask if they can get it for less…

Very politely, while leaning slightly forward to them and touching their arm, I say:

“Sir / Ma’am, I’m the artist, it doesn’t get cheaper than this unless you purchase in bulk, meaning 10 or more items.”

Often they say “Oh, I didn’t realize that” and pay the full price.

For more tips on handling customers who want to bargain instead of paying full price for your jewelry, see Haggling with Customers.
