A growing awareness of ecological and human rights issues involved in the gems, metals, and jewelry industries is fueling a powerful movement in the jewelry marketplace.

As jewelry customers learn more about environmental and human atrocities associated with mining and jewelry production, a market for “ethical jewelry” has quickly picked up momentum.

Of course, celebrity involvement in any trend increases its popularity even more - and as Cindy Edelstein reports in her post, Do You Know What Swag Is, jewelry designers are getting their ethical jewelry lines worn by celebrities - which means this trend is poised to become even hotter.
