DeviantArt for Jewelry Networking

by Rena Klingenberg

Jewelry artist Gabriel White shares her experience with networking her jewelry business at DeviantArt, an online community you may not have thought of in connection with your jewelry.

One website that is particularly useful for advertising is DeviantArt.

It’s an artistic community, and registration is totally free.

DeviantArt is similar to Etsy or eBay in that you have an individual account. From this account, you can regularly post photos and artwork of any type.

The emphasis is on sharing your work with others and taking part in an artistic community, so each post you submit has a comment section at the bottom where fellow “deviants” can praise and critique your work.

Since this is an artistic community, DeviantArt makes it very easy to message and become friends with other people on the site.

It didn’t take long for me to develop a network of artists with whom I’m regularly in touch.

There are even clubs within the site that revolve around certain interests.

I belong to several jewelry clubs, in which the members are notified whenever another member has posted a new piece of jewelry.

It’s easy to provide a link to your own website or Etsy shop in the description of your post.

These clubs are useful as advertising, as well as getting to know fellow jewelry buffs and the latest trends and techniques.

Thanks for the great tips! Social Networking is new to me. I have found that uploading photos on DeviantArt immediately increased traffic to my site!
