Danica of Graceful Jewelry shares this encouragement with beginning beaders:
If you’re starting out making jewelry, I have to say that you’re doing one of the best things in your life.
I felt lost about two years ago, and didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life.
I had finished to be a hair stylist but it just wasn’t doing it – it wasn’t my heart’s desire.
But as soon as my aunt sat with me and we started to make some jewelry I said to her,
“Thank you so much, because this is something I never thought I’d be doing.”
And because I started making jewelry, some wonderful things have happened to me.
Since than I’ve been in a jewelry magazine.
I’ve also had the surprise of having a lot of boutique owners call me to have my jewelry at their boutique.
That was a blessing I never expected.
So I’d just like to say to new beaders:
Don’t give up! Use your creativity like no tommorow – and belive me, you will just be so thankful.
Also have patience, patience, patience – if you first don’t succeed, do it again! You will get it.
I hope I’ve inspired and helped someone by sharing my own experiences!

Hi! It’s so encouraging to hear you say that! I have been beading for a long time, and now for a little over a year, I have been selling it. It takes a lot of patience!
Thanks for sharing your success on jewelry business. I just started my jewelry business and yeah, its hard. You are right patience and to never to give up! I will always remember that. Your story makes me want to do more and create more.

HI – i really enjoyed your email. About 6 years ago i lost my boyfriend and then my brother in a short space of time. I became very ill and “lost the plot” for years until i was finally diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder/Schizoaffective Disorder – great to know what was wrong, but where to go from here. I have a lot of trouble staying still for any length of time. I have lost my last 4 jobs due to my manic moods swings…it has been hard.
About 2 years ago i picked up a beading book and started beading. My fiance set up a workshop in our garage – and in two weeks i am opening Australia’s first Personal Jewellery Shopping and Custom Design Service.
This is the most wonderful thing i have ever found. Beading really gives as much as it gets in that you learn, discover, create, design, choose colors, etc – a dozen times a day – every day! Who could even dream of a better job!!! I am so glad it has helped you also.
Melissa
Thanks
I really liked you message which is
“Don’t give up! Use your creativity like no tomorrow – and believe me, you will just be so thankful.”
I think every one is creative one just have to put their thoughts, idea and brain together to come up with some thing good and unique product.
Your article really inspired me. Thanks again
Hi Melissa, First of all I want to thank you for sharing your story and I am dearly sorry about your boyfriend and brother that must of been a really hard time for you . I went trew war and I came to this country and I just don’t know what peace even means you know so when I started making jewelry it really helped me find that peace inside of me and helped me with my anxiety as well. Making jewelry has beed a cure for me and I am so blessed that it helped you and I wish you all the best in your life..

Thank you so much for your article. It helps to get encouragement from another designer. Sometimes when sales are slow I do tend to get down on myself, or have doubts about making and selling jewelry. Yet I know that I am imaginative, creative, and do nice work. I guess I need patience and more time!

Melissa: I certainly understand your bi-polar situation. I have been there myself and it is hard to hold down a job; especially one that has any stress that goes with it. I am trying to find a home business to do and I haven’t found the perfect thing. I’m looking at candles and then I saw a show this a.m. that talked about making jewelry. I don’t know what to do, but I know God has a plan for me and He will help me make the right decision on this as well. I hope your illness is getting better. I have struggled with it for over 30 years. It can mak you very creative, but that’s mania and that’s not too good if you know what I mean! Good luck to you. My email address is on this and I would love to hear how it is going for you before I make my decision on what to do! Good luck and God Bless you.
Danica, Thanks for the words of encouragement, I’m new at making jewelry and enjoy it so much. I would like to sell on the net and even went as far as setting up a website. At times I was ready to throw in the towel and say “what’s the use…I can’t compete”, but your words have given me hope to keep trying.
God Bless!
Hi Danica. Thank you for the encouragement. I am new in beading and sometimes I get so frustrated when I cannot complete my project. Our small business took a beating due to the recession and I was lost for a while. I have no idea how I started this – borrowing books on jewelry making and exploring bead stores. I do hope the Universe continue to bless me with creativity and my dream is to supply fashion shows with my unique handcrafted jewelry. After all, there is hope. In beading, the sky is the limit.
