Jewelry Tool Substitution Tip

by Rena Klingenberg

While showing my jewelry in a market last weekend, I had taken along a necklace to string in between customers.

It was a graduated colour design, using string beads, and as I got started I realised I had forgotten my ruler to measure the colours. I considered phoning my husband to bring me one.

While I sat there thinking over my dilemma, I looked at my inventory sheet. The paper was lined, with spaces of about 5 millimetres.

I simply measured out the length of the coloured section I was working on, and then decreased the measure by about 1 centimetre as I progressed through my stringing.

No need for the ruler after all!!
