About

Welcome!

I'm Rena Klingenberg - writer, publisher and jewelry artist. I've been making and selling handcrafted jewelry for several years.

In fact, I've experimented with nearly every possible way of selling jewelry - including shows, parties, consignment, wholesale, sales reps, distributors, my website, eBay, trunk shows, fundraiser shows, etc.

Believe it or not, it can actually be quite easy to sell as much jewelry as you can make - and my goal is to help you find ways to market your jewelry and grow your own successful, profitable jewelry business.

Since 2003 I've been publishing jewelry business tips for indie jewelry artists, based on my experiences in this industry.

My main website, Home Jewelry Business Success Tips, is a growing collection of over 500 articles on nearly every aspect of the business side of jewelry art.

Another site I started more recently is Jewelry Display Ideas, which is filled with clever ideas, tips, projects, and loads of inspiring photos of all kinds of ways to display and package jewelry.

And I also write books on various jewelry business topics, which are available via Jewelry Books.

This site, Jewelry Business Blog, is your resource of creative new jewelry business information - including

  • questions and answers
  • new articles from my various jewelry biz-related sites
  • timely tips from other jewelry artists
  • other interesting jewelry business info I find around the web
  • great resources for jewelry artists.

Oh, and what kind of jewelry do I create?

I mainly work with wire, unusual stones, shells, antique coins, leather, and assorted rustic odds and ends.

(Here's one of my pendants.)

Currently, since I'm so busy writing and publishing, I sell my jewelry only via one jewelry shop, two art shows per year, and directly to my established customers.

That's enough to keep me quite busy - and it gives me the chance to gather new jewelry business experiences and tips to share with you!

Thanks so much for joining me here, and if you have any jewelry business questions, just ask - I answer as many as I can here in the Jewelry Business Blog, in my newsletter, and in articles on my websites.

I also welcome your tips on anything related to jewelry business, jewelry making, or jewelry artists - please send in your tips and there's a good chance they'll be published here on the Jewelry Business Blog - along with a link to your website!

I have found both your blog and you main website very interesting. I plan on learning much more from you. I have a great deal of experiance at the wholesale level but not much at the retail level. I started out doing the jewelry party thing a few years back and enjoyed it. I then went back to a regular job for a few years. We ended up moving to an area that is very rural so the jewelry parties were out of the question - at least for now. I still have my suppliers so I decided to do the website and see how it goes from there. I still have a lot to learn but I now have a resource in your sites.

I read your news letter today. I started to make jewelry more than a year ago. I was very excited at first until the business I was displaying my jewelry at closed. My sales were minimal anyway. Since then I have sold to a few people and tried to find a retailer in my area who would display my jewelry. I haven't had much luck and for many reasons I quit trying to sell or make any more jewelry. Your newsletter and your ebook have given me new hope that I could try selling at local fairs. Thank you. I know I have a lot to learn and I need the courage to go forward.
